Merging Order Products

Each time a reservation is extended a new set of order products (for rent and guest records when present) are created. These individual records are helpful for seeing the history of changes to a reservation but if multiple extensions are present they can make the order hard to understand and billing overly complicated.

These issues can be resolved by merging the related order products on the order. For example instead of having two rent products, one from May 1st to June 30th and one from June 30th to July 20th - you could have one rent product from May 1st to July 20th.

You can use the Change Rate function to merge multiple order products together.

Use the Change Rate function, select the earliest of the records that you want to merge, set the time range for all order products that you want to merge and set the rate to be the same as the existing record. When the you are finished the system will merge the order products for that period into a single order product.

Resolving Billing Issues

You can use the merging order product technique to resolve additional issues with an order. The merge of order products by using the Change Rate function can also resolve issues when multiple extensions result in any billing gaps, or issues with taxability for rent. Using this technique will cause the system to update all tax statuses and billing and address any issues that may be present.
